Down by the Sea (Beaches)
Children’s Beach – Harbor side (calm water). Lifeguard on duty. Easily accessible by a short stroll from town, bike ride from Town, or park your car in the parking lot or street. Facilities include restrooms, showers, Nucci’s for a nice cold treat or Panini, picnic tables for a packed lunch, and a playground.
Francis Street Beach – Harbor side (calm water). No lifeguard. It’s a short stroll from Town. Turtle climb, kayak rentals, and restrooms.
Jetties Beach – Harbor side (calm water). Lifeguard on duty. Easily accessible via shuttle, a brief bike ride from town, or park your car in the large parking lot. Facilities include restrooms, showers, changing rooms, playground, great food at The Jetties, and picnic tables.
Steps Beach – Harbor side (calm water). No lifeguard. Steps Beach is more suitable for older children, or children that can get up-and-down all the “steps” going down to the beach. Best reached by bike or car. Parking is limited.
Surfside Beach – South Shore (large surf). Lifeguard on duty. Easily accessible by shuttle, a bike ride down Surfside Bike Path or by car. The beach is located at the end of Surfside Road and there is a shuttle stop at the beach. If you are driving there, there is an oversized parking lot. Facilities include restrooms, showers, changing rooms, and a snack bar.
Miacomet Pond – Located at the end of Miacomet Road. No lifeguard, changing or bathroom facilities. Calm fresh water.
Cisco Beach – South Shore (Heavy surf). Perfect for little surfers. Not recommended for tiny tots. Lifeguard on duty. Best reached by car or bike. It is a 4-mile bike ride down Hummock Pond Road.
Dionis Beach – Harbor Side (calm water) Located off of Madaket Road to Eel Point Road. Your landmark will be a large white rock reading “Dionis Beach.” Lifeguard on duty, restrooms, a water fountain and soda machine. Best reached by bike or car.
